SELF-PUBLISHING ASSISTANCE

Publishing of books from desk of writers to the hands of readers has always been a three-step process and writers have been involved in only one of those phases. Creating the book, distribution, promotion and marketing were responsibilities turned over to the traditional publisher. Beyond finding an agent and signing a contract with the publisher, the author didn’t have to worry about the business aspects of the book trade.

A self-publishing assistance is process in which independent publisher is responsible for all three stages of the process and he must become a project manager who understands each step of the process and makes sure that the requirements of each are carried out well.

Anyone can self-publish a book. One of the reasons for the stigma associated with self-published books is that not all of them ready for publication. The author’s first responsibility is to write a good book. The fact that self-publishing has lowered the barriers to entry for people who want to write a book can be problematic.   When an author is doing self-publishing assistance there are the chances that he will be skilled at book layout and cover design and experienced in contracting with printers. Sometimes self-publishing assistance produce books that are as good or better than what the big publishers are putting out. A self-publishing author must assume the responsibility for quality control.
